Workshop: Design Thinking for research

Workshop: Design Thinking for Research

In this workshop, you will bring your research project forward by creating structure, gaining clarity and motivating yourself. It is incorporating the feedback from previous visual thinking workshops and combining it with new techniques and tools from the course "Research as Design" at Stanford University.

According to research conducted at Stanford University (Cravens et al., 2014; Ulibarri et. al, 2014), productive, confident and motivated researchers need analytical skills, creative confidence and emotional well-being. This is exactly what this five-day-workshop is about.

1 Your research project first for progress! --> Focus on how to gain structure and get clarity for your research projects through visual thinking with a lot of time to work on your current projects.

2 Emotional competence for sustainable productivity! --> Time to know and practice very hands-on methods and tools from positive psychology (University of Berkeley, Greater Good Science), energy competence (ETH Zurich) and emotional leadership (University of Michigan) to support your emotional and motivational competence to motivate yourself and others.

3 Visual Storytelling for purpose! --> A one-day focus on visual storytelling with the chance for you to make an infographic and a video about your research for your audiences and as an opportunity to connect to why you are doing this research, motivation on a meta-level!

All this in a relaxed and focused atmosphere in which learning through failure, a bias towards action and an attitude of prototyping and iteration is guaranteed, as we know this makes us more innovative scholars.

Join other researchers from Switzerland (PhD students, Post-Docs, research associates) for this 5-day-workshop at 21-25 August 2017 in Lugano.
